Why do I feel stressed during the holidays?

While the holidays can be a season full of joy and happiness, it is not uncommon for many people to experience strong feelings of stress, anxiety and depression as well. The demands of travel, spending time with family, and financial expenses of gift gifting, dinner-gatherings and the many other errands during the holiday season can be overwhelming.

To help you battle through the crowds, back-to-back holiday parties and social obligations, relatives, and all other potential stressors we’ve written an article dedicated to naturally overcoming holiday stressors using many mind + body techniques and a Mendi CBD playbook.

Why am I stressed and can CBD help?

It comes as no surprise that naturally occurring cannabidiol found in the hemp plant can have many positive effects on our mental health, but this is especially true during stressful seasons– such as the holidays. Serotonin is a neurotransmitter found in our brain that plays a critical role in mental health. Low serotonin levels are commonly associated with depression or mood imbalances, which can lead to anxiety related symptoms.

Oftentimes our Endocannabinoid System (ECS) becomes fatigued due to many external stressors; holidays, family, work, finances, etc. Supplementing our ECS with naturally occurring plant compounds, like cannabinoids or CBD, helps to bring our body and mind back to a balanced state or homeostasis. Many studies indicate that CBD is very effective in managing stress, anxiety and depression related symptoms instead of conventional medications, however it’s always important to consult with your doctor before making any changes to your treatment plan.

How much CBD should I use to manage Stress and Anxiety during the holidays?

Mendi CBD products are formulated with scientifically proven all-natural ingredients to provide stress relief throughout your days and weeks.

CBD Gummies, Gel Capsules and Stress Oil Tinctures are ingested orally (CBD oil tinctures should be used sublingually by dropping the oil under your tongue, let sit for 30-60 seconds before swallowing), and you can choose from our No THC hemp line or our Full Spectrum Hemp Line (<0.3% THC and full plant power). We recommend starting with a baseline dose of 15-25mg of CBD per serving size, then gradually increasing your dosage as necessary for your stress and anxiety CBD routine during the holidays. CBD Gummies and Gel Capsules can be felt within 30-45 minutes and can last up to 4-6 hours.

The Stress Oil Tinctures are highly concentrated oil blends combined wit the highest quality plant compounds to provide the ultimate stress relief during the busy holiday season. You can dose specifically to suit your needs. Take a serving size (10-60mg of CBD) dropper, drop under your tongue, let it sit for 30 seconds or up to 2 minutes, then swallow. The effects can be felt almost immediately, within 15-20 minutes, lasting up to 4-6 hours. Concentrated CBD oil blends are the most powerful and efficient way to get CBD and other plant concentrates into your bloodstream.

It is always recommended to go low and slow with CBD ingestibles, building up your dosage as needed. Please consult with your doctor if you are taking other medications, prescriptions or have more in depth questions regarding the interactions of CBD with your body or symptoms you are feeling.

Consider these Mind + Body techniques to combat holiday stress.

In conjunction with using Mendi CBD products to help overcome feelings of stress, anxiety and depression related symptoms this holiday season, we recommend a few other simple steps to keep you feeling your best and avoiding holiday burnout.

  • Quality Sleep - sleep is the best natural de-stressor for your body. Getting quality sleep this season will keep your brain and body healthy from start to finish. Try our Sleep CBD Oil Tincture to help you fall asleep, stay asleep and wake up feeling refreshed.

  • Hydration - staying hydrated throughout the day will significantly decrease feelings of fatigue and stress. Drinking water naturally increases energy in your mind and body on a cellular level, promotes a healthy metabolism, flushes out toxins and improves skin and tissue health.

  • Maintain activity - while it can be difficult to stay on a regimented workout schedule with all the eating and social gathers, it’s important to keep your body moving throughout the holiday season. This will keep your general wellness, metabolism, sleep and stress-related feelings at bay.

  • Mindfulness - In general, keeping a healthy mindfulness practice (yoga, meditation, breath work, journaling, etc.) throughout the holidays will keep your parasympathetic nervous system activated, which can result in decreased blood pressure, resting heart rate, healthy central nervous system and feelings of stress and anxiety.
