At Mendi, we're passionate about sustainability and giving back to our community here in the Pacific Northwest. That's why we're thrilled to share more about our friends, the NW Trail Sisters, a group of inspiring women who are making a real difference in our local outdoors. As a female-owned company in Portland, we cherish our stunning natural spaces and love nothing more than seeing others enjoy them, too. Together with NW Trail Sisters, we're proud to highlight our partnerships that contribute to the protection and preservation of our shared land.
NW Trail Sisters is a community of female mountain bikers and members of the greater NW Trail Alliance, who are dedicated to creating a supportive and inclusive environment for women in the sport. However, their mission goes beyond solely riding bikes. They also prioritize the stewardship of the land and strive to leave a positive impact on the trails they ride.
One of the many ways NW Trail Sisters makes a difference is through trail maintenance and cleanup. They organize regular work parties to repair and maintain trails, and also participate in larger events such as the annual Earth Day Clean Up. These efforts help to keep our local trails in good condition, keeping them safe and enjoyable for all users.
In addition to their stewardship work, NW Trail Sisters also fosters a sense of community among women who love mountain biking. They organize group rides, clinics, and social events that create a safe, supportive and uplifting atmosphere for women to learn, grow, and have fun on the trails. Through their efforts, NW Trail Sisters has helped to break down barriers and make the sport more accessible to women of all ages and skill levels.
Why is this work so important? As residents of the Pacific Northwest, we are fortunate to have access to some of the most beautiful and diverse landscapes in the world. We believe, with this access comes responsibility. It is up to us to protect and preserve these lands for future generations to enjoy. This starts with taking care of the trails we use. Participating in trail maintenance and cleanup, not only makes the trails safer and more enjoyable, but also demonstrates our commitment to the health and wellbeing of Mother Nature. By supporting groups like NW Trail Sisters, we can work together to create a culture of stewardship and responsibility that will ensure our local trails remain a source of joy and inspiration for years to come.
This Earth Day, we encourage you to get involved with NW Trail Sisters and other local groups working to protect our shared land. Join the Earth Day Clean Up and Mountain Bike Ride on April 22nd to make a tangible difference in our community. If you're a female mountain biker looking for a supportive and empowering community, consider joining NW Trail Sisters. Together, let's make a difference by creating a brighter future for our planet and our community.
