CBD pain relief Science Women's Health
For hundreds of years women have been suffering collectively, sometimes in silence, but often in community during a certain period of their life. The cause of this suffering is something women have in common, not making it easier to deal with, but they knew it was coming: menopause.
Menopausal symptoms vary in extremes and frequently, however many women universally have lost hours of sleep, energy, experienced mood swings and endured weeks or monthly of heavy bleeding. Missing work is common among women going through menopause. Many are plagued by hot flashes, sweating and intense feelings of just ‘not feeling like yourself’.
The period before menopause is called perimenopause, which is an intense biological phase in their late 40s during which the reproductive cycle becomes more final and leads up to their last period. Ovaries start to significantly reduce the numbers of eggs they produce, estrogen and progesterone start to spike and dip randomly, leading to intense confusion in a woman's body and hormonal makeup.
With estrogen levels decreasing, this leads women prone to symptoms of depression, bone loss, weight gain, mood swings, increase in anxiety, severe sleep disturbances, abdominal discomfort and many more symptoms. About 85 percent of women experience menopausal symptoms, however treatments to combat these symptoms are not readily available or being used.
While there is a doctor prescribed menopausal hormone therapy that millions of women are finding helpful, there is still a severe gap of women experiencing menopausal symptoms and not getting treatment. We want to empower you with knowledge regarding the power of CBD and plants to incorporate into your daily and weekly routines to help with the experience of going through menopause.
To be clear, CBD isn’t a cure for all menopausal symptoms, however it can be a powerful all-natural tool to manage many of the disruptions and painful side effects such as insomnia, anxiety and depression, abdominal, full body and joint pain, extreme fatigue and overall wellness.
Sleep is essential to feeling your best. CBD products containing other plant compounds that target improved sleep will make a huge impact on your daily life.
Fluctuating hormones during menopause can lead to intense feelings of anxiety and depression, which can last for years if not treated correctly. CBD’s ability to interact with serotonin release in our brains is a powerful way to balance mood during this phase of life. Incorporating other plant compounds like Vitamin D, Omega 3, Ashwagandha and more can further stabilize anxiety and depression. One 2015 study shows CBD’s potential as a treatment for anxiety disorders.
Lastly, women going through perimenopause and menopause are more prone to bone density loss during this time and can often experience intense levels of pain in their joints, bones and tissues surrounding their abdominal area, legs, lower back and feet. As estrogen levels decrease, women are at risk for higher levels of inflammation throughout the body. Products containing CBD oil and other plant compounds are a powerful all-natural solution to combating daily inflammation and chronic pain in all areas of the body. Products such as the salve stick, massage oil and bath salts are a great solution for quick, full body relief.
