Combining Oregon sourced hemp CBD with other botanicals, terpenes, and adaptogens we’re delivering the most effective product to help you relieve stress, anxiety, and calm your mind and body throughout the day. One of the most exciting aspects about our new formula is the inclusion of the plant adaptogen, Ashwagandha. Below are three powerful ways Ashwagandha contributes to the advanced efficacy of the CBD Stress Oil Tincture.
The Ashwagandha plant is a small shrub with yellow flowers native to India and Southeast Asia. While it has just recently gained popularity in the U.S., this herb has been a cornerstone of Indian medicine for centuries, known as Indian ginseng, and used to treat a range of conditions.
Ashwagandha is an adaptogen, meaning it is a plant known to aid in helping your body respond to mental and physical stress. This plant in particular is known to have health benefits such as stress relief when ingested as tea, powder, supplement, or in the form of a tincture in the case of the Mendi Stress Oil Tincture.
Ashwagandha is best known for its stress-relieving effects. It has been known to promote a more balanced mood, and reduce the negative effects of physical, biological, and chemical stresses in the body.
Several studies have highlighted this plant’s ability to balance stress and anxiety, including one which followed healthy adults and found that Ashwagandha appears to control mediators of stress, including heat shock proteins (Hsp70), cortisol, and stress-activated c-Jun N-terminal protein kinase. It also reduces the activity of the hypothalamic-pituitary-adrenal (HPA) axis, a system in your body that regulates stress response.
Ashwagandha is a natural adaptogen known to improve concentration levels as well as relieving stress. For centuries, this herb has been believed to enhance brain function and the nervous system. Now we have more evidence due to a number of recent small studies that show Ashwagandha can help improve cognition, memory, and the ability to perform motor responses after instruction.
A recent study found Ashwagandha may benefit a number of cognitive functions including attention span, reaction time, immediate and general memory and information processing speed. In the study, 50 adults showed that taking Ashwagandha extract daily for 8 weeks led to significant mental performance improvements compared with taking a placebo.
Researchers have also found that compounds in ashwagandha, including WA, have antioxidant effects in the brain, which may further benefit cognitive health.
More research is needed, but there is convincing evidence suggesting ashwagandha could significantly improve cognitive function in certain demographics, including older adults with mild cognitive impairment and those with schizophrenia.
Ashwagandha appears to lower both total and LDL (bad) cholesterol and support overall heart health. Another study noted decreases in triglyceride and cholesterol levels after 30 days of ashwagandha use as well as lowered blood pressure.
For centuries, Ashwagandha has been used to fortify strength and energy. Today, we have evidence from several small studies suggesting that Ashwagandha use may help increase muscle strength and reduce body fat, making it a popular supplement choice for many athletes.
One report following 12 studies found that both men and women may benefit physically from Ashwagandha use, increasing their muscle strength and oxygen reuptake.
Another report following 5 studies also found Ashwagandha significantly enhanced maximum oxygen consumption (VO2 max - a measure of heart and lung fitness) in healthy adults and athletes.
