5 Tips on Managing Workday Stress

Managing stress at work can be a challenge for many people. It can impact our health, relationships, and overall well-being. Here are 5 tips to help you manage your workday stress.

  1. Track your triggers and make a plan:  Spend a week or two identifying what situations or experiences are driving your stress response and what your immediate emotion or reaction is. Jot down notes on paper or on your phone/computer to help you identify patterns. When you're in a calm state of mind, make a plan for the next time you feel stressed. What is something you can plan to do to take the edge off in a healthy way? Any form of physical movement is a great option. Take a walk around the block, do a 10 min mindfulness exercise, call a friend, or just take 5 deep breaths and think about something you're looking forward to when the workday is over.
  2. Set boundaries: Our digital world can create a pressure to be available 24 hours a day. Setting clear boundaries between work and personal life can help prevent work-related stress from spilling over into your personal life. This may include limiting your work hours, not checking emails outside of work hours, and taking regular breaks throughout the day.

  3. Prioritize and organize: One of the biggest causes of stress at work is feeling overwhelmed by a large workload. To combat this, prioritize your tasks and create a to-do list. This will help you stay focused and organized, allowing you to tackle each task with a clear mind.

  4. Take advantage of plant-based medicine: CBD, or cannabidiol, is a non-psychoactive compound found in cannabis. It has been shown to have a calming effect on the body and has been used to manage anxiety and stress. CBD can be found in various forms, including oils, tinctures, and topicals, and can be easily incorporated into your daily routine. You can find Mendi's lineup of work-safe, stress-relieving products here. These products are safe to use at work, non-intoxicating, non-addictive, and have no side effects.

  5. Ask for help when you need it: Identifying when you need professional help to manage your stress or anxiety is an important step in taking care of your mental health. If you've tried everything above and find that your stress or anxiety is affecting your daily life and relationships, it may be time to seek professional help. Some signs that you may need professional help include difficulty sleeping, persistent feelings of sadness or irritability, lack of motivation or interest in activities you once enjoyed, and persistent physical symptoms such as headaches or stomach aches. Additionally, if you find that you are relying on alcohol, drugs, or other unhealthy coping mechanisms to manage your stress or anxiety, it is important to reach out for professional help.

Managing stress at work is important for our overall health and well-being. By incorporating self-care, setting boundaries, prioritizing and organizing, using CBD, and knowing when to get help, we can better manage our workday stress and improve our overall quality of life. Remember to always listen to your body and prioritize your well-being, as it is the foundation for success and happiness in both our personal and professional lives.
